Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team co owner Bobby Rahal says that he would sign Hames Hinchcliffe in a second but that it all comes down to making sure the finances are in place to have a competitive car in the NTT IndyCar Series field.
Rahal said that he has held talks with the Mayor of HinchTown about next season but that at the moment there is nothing to report.
Rahal who is friends with Hinchcliffe would have the added benefit of the Mayor’s close ties to Honda. The Canada is a brand ambassador for Honda Canada and has appeared in commercials for Honda US. The timing of the announcement from Arrow McLaren SP was extremely poor as the other big teams had already announced their plans leaving Hinch out to dry.
It is believed that a team like Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing would need $4 – 6 million to run Hinchcliffe full-time in 2020 and Rahal hasn’t given up on the prospect of a deal been done for Hinch to drive alongside Graham Rahal and Takuma Sato full-time come the season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
