Cara Krystolic, Director of Engineering and Race Tire Production with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports says that it has been a great year for Firestone Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series.
Speaking to Paddock Eye ahead of this weekend’s 2022 title-deciding Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Krystolic said that the development of the new more sustainable tire using the Guayule rubber for the sidewalls.
The race tire was introduced for the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on the streets of Nashville last month at a development cost of $100 million dollars and Krystolic said that the plan is to use the tire in more races during the 2023 season.
Firestone has confirmed however that they will spend more time testing the new tire ahead of the start of the 2023 season.
