Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden says that it is his job to motivate his No.2 crew and to keep them directed.
Speaking to Paddock Eye following the his second win in succession following victory in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday, the Tennessee-native said:
It’s been good, we have a long way to go. but the build has been really pleasing on the 2 car. There’s a lot of new people there, a lot going on and I’ve talked about that a lot. Everyone’s finding their footing pretty quickly, and they’re growing in confidence, you know, Texas was a big boost and this was a big boost.
It is my job to motivate the team and keep them directed in where we need to be going and so far, so good.
Newgarden heads to Barber Motorsports Park next month where he has won three times before with a five-point lead in the championship over his team-mate Scott McLaughlin.
