Arrow McLaren SP’s Felix Rosenqvist says it is really important to get going as he prepares to test for the team for the first time at Barber Motorsports Park on Monday.
It was announced on Thursday that the Swede will drive the No.7 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet in the NTT IndyCar Series alongside Pato O’Ward in the No.5 Arrrow McLaren SP Chevrolet and speaking to Paddock Eye during a Zoom media call on Friday, Rosenqvist said:
Being around Scott so long now, I even knew him before I went to IndyCar I think you learn a lot of small little things that you take with you when you work with drivers like Scott. I have been lucky in my career where I worked with really, normally older drivers than me that maybe at the end of their career where they are sort of complete and just a beast of a racing driver that they are always on it that they know what to do in certain situations, how to turn around a weekend, that I will definitely bring with me.
In terms of testing the car next week at Barber Motorsports Park the Swede said that he believes it is important that he gets going so that he can go into the off season knowing what he can expect from the car given that he is going from having Honda power with Ganassi to Chevrolet with McLaren.
He also said it is good because he will have everything fresh in his mind and being in a position to tell the team what feels good and what doesn’t feel good and he said whenever you do 100 laps in a new car you get used to a lot of things but when you come fresh from something else that you correct those little things that you know that are not working for you.
Rosenqvist said it is really cool to be able to do the test next week so that he can get to know the people in the team and that is really important to him and he can’t wait to get going.
