McLaren Racing’s Fernando Alonso says it will be a huge challenge as he and the team go up against the best in the IndyCar Series as they prepare for their second Indianapolis 500.
It was confirmed in Brazil on Saturday that Fernando Alonso will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 in May next year.
The company is doing things differently next year as they are setting up their own IndyCar outfit under the McLaren Racing name which will be a separate entity to the Formula One team.
Alonso is just one win away from achieving motorsports famous triple crown. The Spanird is missing just the Indianapolis 500 title having won the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of LeMans.
Taking to Twitter, Alonso said:
“It’s a tough race and we’ll be up against the best, so it will be a huge challenge. But we’re racers and that’s why we race.” – @alo_oficial
