Today’s the day! It’s Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It serves as the final day of preparation time for the Verizon IndyCar Series teams ahead of Sunday’s 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
It is also the final opportunity for the 33 drivers who will take take the green flag on Sunday to get their cars ready for the Greatest Spectacle in Motorsport.
The motor racing world not just in Indianapolis but also in Monaco and elsewhere will be watching with anticipation to see how McLaren driver Fernando Alonso gets on in his first Indianapolis 500 race.
McLaren have partnered with Andretti Autosport to enable Alonso to race thus weekend with the Spaniard starting the race from the second row of the grid in fifth place.
Speaking to Paddock Eye earlier this week, McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown said that he believes Alonso is one of several drivers who can win the race this year.
On Friday we will also get our first look at the Camping World No.9 Honda that Scott Dixon will drive this weelend.
