It’s Firestone Fast Nine qualifying day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as we prepare to set the pole for the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge while takes place in exactly a week from today.
Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon who leads the championship was fastest on Saturday and as a result will be last out in the fight for pole.
All four Chip Ganassi Racing drivers have made it into the fast nine shootout as have two of Ed Carpenter Racing’s drivers, Ed Carpenter and Rinus Veekay.
Colton Herta and Ryan Hunter Reay are also in the fast nine while Meyer Shank Racing’s Helio Castroneves also made the fast nine.
It was a difficult Saturday for Team Penske who failed to get a car into the Fast nine while Will Power in the No.12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet will fight to make the final row and bump his was into the race.
Paretta Autosport’s Simona De Silvestro in the No.16 ROCKET Pro TPO is also hoping to bump her way into the field.
Sage Karam, Charlie Kimball and RC Enerson will also be in the fight for the last row shoot out.
There will be a 30 minute warm up for the Fast nine while the drivers in the last row shootout will will also get a 30 minute practice.
