It’s finally here! Thr 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is THIS Sunday. The Indy 500 was delayed due to the COVID 19 global pandemic however it has been well worth the wait given that for the first time since 1987 an Andretti sits on pole for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
This year may be different in that no fans will attend this year’s race however, the important thing is that we are going racing this weekend and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway always gives us an entertaining event and this year will be no different.
Watching qualifying was great and although there was no Bumping this year, there was drama on Fast Nine qualifying day as fivetimeseries champion Scott Dixon sat on provisional pole for a while with a four lap average of 231.051MPH and then Marco Andretti in the No.98 US Concrete Honda w3nt out and set a four lap average of 231.068MPH to claim his maiden Indianapolis 500 pole position.
It was fantastic to see the reactions from everyone up and down pitroad from his team mates to everyone at Team Penske.
Sunday’s race will be hosted by Mike Tirico and former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick.
