Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais had a huge smile on his face as he returned to the cock-pit of his No.18 Unifin Honda at the Mid-Ohio sports car course on Monday. The 38 year old LeMans native completed 80 laps with no problems at all.
Speaking following the test, Bourdais said:
It’s just great to be back in the car, really, and to feel like nothing’s changed, Two and a half months have gone by and you get back in the car, hop in the saddle and feel good. It was very positive.
The one concern that Bourdais had was with his neck however, the test was a complete success other than that.
Bourdais was joined at the test by team owner Dale Coyne who looked on from the Dale Coyne Racing pit-stand. Coyne has confirmed that the team will wait and see how Ed Jones and Esteban Gutierrez get on in the two races before deciding what they will do.
Coyne did confirm however that Bourdais will absolutely be back racing in the season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma in September.
