It’s officially race week at Texas Motor Speedway! The wait is over, after 12 weeks the NTT IndyCar Series will go racing in the Genesys 300, the first event on a heavily revised 2020 season due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Saturday’s race will be held behind closed doors but the drivers and teams are ready to go. It will be the first time that the drivers will get to race with the new aeroscreen cockpit protection device which has been introduced to enhance driver safety.
The big question on everyone’s lips is what will the Mayor of HinchTown James Hinchcliffe call his No.29 Genesys Andretti Autosport Honda?
It is also going to be interesting to see how rookies Alex Palou, Oliver Askew, Dalton Kellett and Rinus Veekay get on during the opening race of the season. It is also going to Arrow McLaren SP’s first race with Chevrolet power having made the switch from Honda following the announcement of a partnership between McLaren Racing and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
Chip Ganassi Racing have added a full-time third car to their team for 2020 with Marcus Ericsson joining five time series champion Scott Dixon and fellow Swede Felix Rosenqvist at the outfit.
The NTT IndyCar Series have been able get through the current COVID 19 situation with teams intact and no changes having been made to driver line ups which just goes to show the strength and health of the sport.
Let’s do this! It’s time to go racing!
