Five time NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing will make his iRacing Challenge debut at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend. Speaking to Racer.com ahead of the event this weekend Dixon said that in his first simulator test with Honda this year he spent three hours trying to get the tire model right.

Dixon said that the iRacing simulator is a game and that it is nothing like the real thing or even the simulators that they use to prepare for events.

The Iceman went on to say that the IndyCar drivers are trying to be the best iRacing sim racers they can be rather than using their skills and talents from the real track action to the virtual world to help them to get to the front of the field in IRacing.

Dixon also said that you can’t compare the two as they are completely different worlds and he is taking the approach of it’s something fun to do.

The NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge round 2, the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park presented by AmFirst is live on NBCSN in the US and Sky Sports F1HD in the UK and Irelamd on Saturday evening from 7:30PM.
