The NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge ended on Saturday with the First Responder 175 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Scott McLaughlin in the No.40 Pirtek Team Penske Chevrolet took his second win of the season however it is time to go back to racing for real.
The six iRacing Challenge events we have had have been thoroughly enjoyable and have achieved their goal of raising thousands of dollars for various charitable causes during the COVID 19 pandemic.
The NTT IndyCar Series which cancelled the start of their season in March dur to COVID 19 have plans to start the new season on Saturday June 6 with the Genesys 600 at Texas Motor Speedway and with states including Texas beginning to lift restrictions by the time we get going for the race it should go ahead.
Paddock Eye understands that the race will go ahead behind closed doors as a TV only event with restrictions in place as to the number of team personnel travelling and working on each car. It is also understood that the race will take place as a one day event.
Speaking following Saturday’s First Responder 175 presented by GMR at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway AJ Foyt Racing’s Tony Kanaan said he has had enough of iRacing and is ready to go back to real racing.
