The FIA World Rally Championship looks set to be heading to Japan in 2020 following a successful two day test rally last weekend.
The event which will take place near Mount Fuji would be a huge boast for the World Rally Championship and Motorsport in general and would see three of the biggest motorsports in the world the WRC, WEC and Formula One with events in Japan.
FIA safety officials were joined at the event by WRC Promoter Oliver Ciesla who commented on the event saying:
We went to Japan with positive expectations and were not disappointed. The promotional aspects of the rally were first class and all observers were also pleased by the sporting qualities the competitors faced.
Ciesla went on to say:
“We were already aware of the enthusiasm for WRC in Japan and last weekend reinforced those beliefs. Tens of thousands of fans attended the WRC candidate event and this support, allied with the hard work of the organisers, confirmed our confidence that Japan would be a very worthy addition to the calendar.
