In March 2019, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES began discussions with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, PPG, and chassis manufacturer Dallara about developing driver cockpit protection.
That year, at the Indianapolis 500, INDYCAR and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, along with Dallara, held a press conference to introduce the new Aeroscreen that was to be introduced the following season.
