Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson has become a majority owner of the Legacy Motor Club NASCAR Cup Series team it was confirmed on Monday.
Speaking following the news, Johnson who will compete in two races this season said:
I really have to thank Maury Gallagher for giving me the opportunity within the ownership space. He has been an outstanding partner, mentor and friend and I’m grateful we had the opportunity to work together, I’ve learned so much from him. As his professional career takes a different path, he can worry less about the daily team owner things and focus more on family and enjoying life.
As part of today’s announcement, Knighthead Capital Management LLC has taken a minority shareholding in Legacy Motor Club.

Of note, NFL legend Tom Brady is a part owner in Knighthead Capital Management, Brady has been linked with running an entry in the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge with Chip Ganassi Racing and Jimmie Johnson with Sébastien Bourdais driving.
Speaking at the Rolex 24 Hours over the weekend when asked about the Indianapolis 500, the Frenchman told reporters to ask (Chip) Ganassi.
Bourdais has been working with Kyffin Simpson in 2024 in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
