Seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is preparing for his final full-time Cup Series race in the 2020 season ending event in Phoenix this weekend.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver announced earlier this year that he would step away from full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition next season as he wanted to embark on a new chapter in his career.
Johnson has joined Chip Ganassi Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series on a two year contract to compete in road and street course events in the No.48 Carvana Honda.
Johnson joins 2020 series champion Scott Dixon, Marcus Ericsson and Alex Palou from 2021.
The Californian took part in the first official 2021 test at Barber Motorsports Park on Monday where he drove the No.48 Carvana Honda for the first time.
