Seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson who was a guest of Arrow McLaren SP NTT IndyCar Series team for day one of Spring Training at the Circuit Of The Americas in Austin Texas on Tuesday has ruled out competing in the Indianapolis 500 next season.

Speaking to NBC Sports Leigh Diffey the NASCAR star said that the opportunity to race in the Indianapolis 500 next year has probably passed him by.

The San Diego native said that he loved watching IndyCar growing up and he said that he would love to do a number of road or street course events next season.

Johnson was an interested spectator on the Arrow McLaren SP pit stand over the course of the opening say of the test.
