Hendrick Motorsports Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No.48 Ally Racing Chevrolet says that he wants to compete in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Speaking to Paddock Eye during a Zoom media conference call the seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion said that his discussions with Chevrolet have often taken place at Long Beach and he also confirmed he would love to compete in the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey in California.
Johnson said that following his COVID-19 diagnosis he has spoken to Chip Ganassi Racing as had been due to test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course with them on Wednesday and that the test with the them will go ahead at a later date in the season when it suits both parties.
Johnson also confirmed he is still planning to test with Arrow McLaren SP having had to postpone his test at Barber Motorsports Park in April.
Johnson went on to tell Paddock Eye that his positive test for COVID-19 hasn’t changed his approach to this weekend’s race in Kentucky as he only missed one race and is still in with a chance of a play off place.
