Ed Carpenter Racing’s Ed Jones says that he will not change his approach to the IndyCar Series in 2019.
The Dubai native will drive the No.20 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet for all 12 road and street course races on the 2019 IndyCar Series schedule and will also compete in the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May in the No.64 Ed Carpenter Scuderia Corsa RacingWg Chevrolet.
Jones says that he has put last season behind him and knows that he is capable of winning races. Ed Carpenter Racing have shown that they are race winners having taken seven victories in the IndyCar Series.
Speaking about the 2018 season which saw him join Chip Ganassi Racing as team mate to Scott Dixon, Jones told IndyCar.com
I did everything I could. “I put in as much effort as I could. I held up every side of my bargain and did what I thought was to the best of my abilities. For one reason or another, things didn’t work out. But I don’t feel like I should be changing my approach. It’s worked in the past and I’m sure it will work again in the future. I’ve shown how fast I can be and I’ve shown how good I can be in races.
Jones who finished his first Indianapolis 500 with Dale Coyne Racing in 2017 in third place behind winner Takuma Sato and second placed Helio Castroneves.
Jones will be hoping that he can put to good use what he learnt from his year with Ganassi with his new team Ed Carpenter Racing. The 23 year old says he has moved on from last year and is looking forward to his new opportunity. It will also be Jones’ first time racing with Chevrolet power having used Honda power with Dale Coyne Racing and Ganassi.
