Verizon IndyCar Series driver Tony Kanaan is looking forward to his opportunity of driving for Chip Ganassi Racing in the Rolex 24 Hours on January 28/29.
The Brazilian who drives for Ganassi alongside Scott Dixon, Max Chilton and Charlie Kimball in the Verizon IndyCar Series will drive one of Ganassi’s Ford GT car at the Rolex 24 Hour which takes place at Daytona International Speedway.
Speaking about the opportunity to drive the car, Kanaan commented by saying:
I’ve been following this thing since Day 1 because I’m a big fan of the car and the street car. “Seeing the team win Le Mans last year after I won the 24 Hours of Daytona with them (in 2015 in a Daytona Prototype) already made me want to be there. I was waiting for the right opportunity and it finally came.
“It came a couple days before Christmas so I actually said it was the best Christmas gift I had this year. I’m a part of a big tradition, I’m thrilled and I can’t wait to get there.
This weekend marks the Roar Before The 24 test at Daytona International Speedway with a number of Verizon IndyCar Series drivers participating in the test.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe who will take part in the Race of Champions Miami later this month is in action driving for Mazda alongside Spencer Pigot while RC Enerson was there too.
Kanaan is joined in the Ford GT by his IndyCar team mate Scott Dixon and Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais.
