AJ Foyt Racing’s Tony Kanaan who drives the No.14 ABC Supply Chevrolet will compete in an extra race this season after the NTT IndyCar Series announced on Monday that they have added three races to the calendar with the addition ofa second race at Iowa Speedway on Friday July 17, with the Iowa Corn 300, the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on September 19 and the IndyCar Harvest Grand Prix of Indianapolis on October 3.
Kanaan was due to compete in the five oval events this season as part of his last lap starting with the 104hth running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge which was due to take place on May 24. The Indianapolis 500 has been rescheduled for August 23 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Kanaan, who announced ahead of the start of the 2020 season that he would only compete in oval races this year as part of his #TKLastLap campaign was originally due to compete in the five oval events this year with the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, the Genesys 600 at Texas Motor Speedway, the Iowa Corn 300, Richmond Raceway and the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Provided the new IndyCar Series schedules goes ahead as planned Kanaan will have an E tra event at Iowa Speedway as it is a double header weekend.
As it stands the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season gets underway on June 9 with the Genesys 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
