AJ Foyt Racing’s Tony Kanaan who drives the No.14 Chevrolet has thanked the NTT IndyCar Series for putting the new 2020 schedule in place.
It was announced that the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 24 has been postponed until August 23 due to the global COVID 19 pandemic.
The new season will start with Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear double header on May 30 and 31.
Kanaan who is participating in a partial schedule this season competing in oval only races only as part of his #TKLastLap tour will make his first start of 2020 at the Genesys 600 at Texas Motor Speedway on June 6.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Kanaan commented saying:
🇺🇸 This is the new schedule for the 2020 @indycar season. I’d like to thank #INDYCAR, the tracks, sponsors, team and partners for their huge effort in piecing new dates together.
Kanaan will join the field of 26 drivers for this weekend’s inaugural NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge which takes place on Saturday.
