Verizon IndyCar Series driver Tony Kanaan will make his LeMans 24 Hour debut for Chip Ganassi Racing next month.
The Brazilian who drives for Chip Ganassi full-time in the Verizon IndyCar Series was announced as Sebastien Bourdais’s replacement in the No.63 Ford GT.
Bourdais suffered multiple fractures in a crash during qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 last month that have ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Kanaan joining the 2016 class winning team of Dirk Muller and Joey Hand for the race.
Speaking about his opportunity, Kanaan said:
It’s an honour to be named as part of the GT line-up for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing, This race has been on my bucket list for a long time.
The LeMans 24 Hours takes place on June 18/19 inbetween the Rainguard Water Seelers 600 and the Kohler Grand Prix in the Verizon IndyCar Series.
