NBC confirmed on Wednesday that Kevin Lee will stand in for Leigh Diffey as play-by-play announcer for this weekend’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES race at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course. Lee will be alongside regulars, former INDYCAR SERIES drivers Townsend Bell and James Hinchcliffe. Diffey is off this week after covering the Olympic Trials last week for NBC.

Paddock Eye understands that Diffey will be back in the booth for the final time with INDYCAR for the Iowa doubleheader from July 13/14 before he heads to Paris for the Olympic Games.

Kevin Lee is no stranger to the commentary booth. He covers INDYCAR practice on Peacock and is also the play-by-play announcer for the INDY NXT presented by Firestone.

While Marty Snider and Dave Burns are covering the NASCAR races for NBC at the Chicago street event, Georgia Henneberry and former NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Charlie Kimball who works with Kevin Lee on INDY NXT broadcasts, will serve as pit-lane reporters as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES embarks on a new chapter in its history with the introduction of the hybrid engine.
