Scuderia Toro Rosso technical director James Key is set to join McLaren according to reports in the UK.
Key, who began his Formula One career with the Jordan Grand Prix team in 1998 was with the outfit during its Midland and Force India guises. Key left the team at the end of 2009 joining the Sauber F1 Team in 2010.
The Englishman spent three seasons with the Hinwil based outfit before moving to Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2012 as technical director.
Paddock Eye understands that although there has been no confirmation from McLaren, Key will join the Woking based outfit as their new technical director replacing Tim Goss who left the team in April.
McLaren Renault currently sit in seventh place in the championship on 48 points while the Honda powered Scuderia Toro Rosso team are in eighth place on 20 points.
