Carlin Racing placed three cars in qualifying for this weekend’s 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge last weekend with full time driver Max Chilton joined by Patricio O’Ward and Charlie Kimball.

In qualifying it was Kimball who is completing a partial NTT IndyCar Series programme this year who led the way for Carlin.

The Californian will start Sunday’s race from 20th place on the grid while Max Chilton and Patricio O’Ward failed to qualify for the race this weekend.

Carlin were also involved in the preparation of McLaren Racing’s entry for the 500 however Fernando Alonso failed to qualify for the race.

This will be Kimball’s second 500 with Carlin and speaking in the build up to the Indy 500, the Californian said that being on the stand with the team gave him a new and fresh prospective.

Kimball’s performance just shows that he deserves to be in the NTT IndyCar Series full time and hopefully the month of May will give him an opportunity to do more races this season.
