Carlin Racing’s Charlie Kimball, driver of the No.23 Fiap Chevrolet says he is quietly confident ahead of Sunday’s 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge following a strong month of May for the team.
Kimball who will start Sunday’s race from 20th said that he is still heartbroken that neither of his team mates Max Chilton or Patricio O’Ward won’t be in the race on Sunday.
The No.23 crew haven’t put a wrench wrong all month and that has paid off for Kimball and he says it is now down to getting the right strategy for the race and that everything goes smoothly in the race, he said that 500 miles is a long race.
When asked about the fact that he has no team mate’s in the race, Kimball said that when it comes down to the race itself, it is every man and woman for themselves.
Kimball also said that having been on the timing stand this season has given him a fresh prospective and when it comes to decisions by his engineers he isn’t so quick to question it as he has a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes.
