It’s official! Following months of speculation, Ferrari confirmed on Tuesday that they have renewed their partnership with Kimi Raikkonen for the 2018 season.
Raikkonen who returned to the Italian team in 2014 following two years with the Lotus F1 Team heads into this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix in fifth place in the championship just one point behind Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo.
The Iceman finished the Hungarian Grand Prix last time in second place behind race winner and team mate Sebastian Vettel.
So far in 2017, Raikkonen has one pole position and four podium finishes. In a short statement, Ferrari said:
Ferrari N.V. (NYSE/MTA: RACE) announces that Scuderia Ferrari has renewed its technical and racing agreement with Kimi Raikkonen. The Finnish driver will therefore race for the Maranello team in the 2018 Formula One World Championship.
