Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle said that Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was on fire as the Iceman led the second practice session ahead of Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.
The Finn set a fastest time of 01:38.699s and ended the session just ahead of championship leader Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes. Aston Martin Red Bull Racing carried their momentum forward from the morning with Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo ending the day in third and fourth respectively.
Mercedes Valtteri Bottas ended the day in fifth place while the Renault Sport F1 Team’s Carlos Sainz continued his strong run from the morning as he ended the day in sixth place.
The Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean was seventh just ahead of McLaren Renault’s Fernando Alonso while Sebastian Vettel was eighth fastest after the four time championship hit the wall on his way down to the final turn during his qualifying simulation.
The Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg was ninth while Sergio Perez rounded out the top ten for the Racing Point Force India F1 Team.
Marcus Ericsson was 11th for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team just ahead of Esteban Ocon. Charles Leclerc was 13th in the second Sauber ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen.
Stoffel Vandoorne was 15th for McLaren just ahead of both Toro Rosso drivers, Brendan Hartley and Pierre Gasly. The Williams Martini Racing Team’s Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin rounded out the order.
