Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood was the pace-setter in the opening practice session ahead of Sunday’s XPEL Grand Prix of Road America. The Floridian, who is on a bit of a roll following victories in Detroit and last time out at World Wide Technology Raceway, set a fastest time of 01:44.9881s. At the same time, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Devlin DeFrancesco recovered from two off-track incidents to end the day second.

Team Penske’s Will Power was third just ahead of Josef Newgarden, while Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard was fifth with a time of 01:45.2246s, ending the day just ahead of Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 XPEL Team Penske Chevrolet.

AJ Foyt Racing’s David Malukas had a solid day as he ended up in seventh just ahead of Louis Foster and championship leader Alex Palou who was ninth. Kyffin Simpson in the No.8 Ridgeline Chip Ganassi Racing Honda rounded out the top ten.

Santino Ferrucii in the No.14 Sexton Properties Chevrolet for AJ Foyt Racing was P11 with a time of 01:45.7423s ending the day just ahead of Nolan Siegel and Felix Rosenqvist. Alexander Rossi in the No.20 JAVA House Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet was 14th despite spinning into the gravel in the closing stages of the session.

PREMA Racing’s Callum Ilott was 15th just ahead of Marcus Armstrong and Pato O’Ward while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda who has won here twice in the past was 18th with a time of 01:46.1033s.

Rinus VeeKay was 19th just ahead of Marcus Ericsson while Conor Daly was 21st for Juncos Hollinger Racing. Graham Rahal was 22nd just ahead of Colton Herta and Dale Coyne Racing’s Jacob Abel. Robert Schwartzman was 25th in the second PREMA just ahead of Christian Rasmussen while Sting Ray Robb rounded out the order in the No.77 GoodHeart Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet with a time of 01:46.8911s,
