Former Formula One driver Robert Kubica has announced that he has decided to delay his circuit racing return.
The Polish driver partially severed his hand and suffered other injuries in a February 2011.
Kubica was set to compete in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship with ByKolles in the LMP1 category.
The new season gets underway this weekend with the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
Kubica attended the prologue in Monza last month but did not test. In a statement released on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Kubica confirmed the news.
After the Prologue, I have decided to interrupt my racing program with the ByKolles team in LMP1. Therefore, I will not take part in the upcoming WEC Silverstone opening round and in the other WEC races. It has been a hard decision to step down and so lose the opportunity to join such a challenging and competitive Championship, but I hope this will not be a definitive goodbye.
