Formula One’s announcement on Thursday morning that the sport will return to Las Vegas in 2023 will not only see a third Grand Prix held in the country alongside the existing races in Miami and Austin but it will also mark the first Saturday race to take place since the 1885 South African Grand Prix.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix will have a start time of 10PM local time and will take in the iconic Las Vegas strip which will form part of the 3.8 mile, 14 turn street circuit with cars reaching speeds of up 212mph. Formula One and the race organizers have signed an initial three-year contract for the race to take place however, Formula One President and CEO Stefano Domenicali says he hopes the agreement will be attended beyond the three years.
The event will comprise of 50 laps and will have the famous Las Vegas skyline and neon lights as its backdrop.
