It has been a busy day in the Verizon IndyCar Series, first we had the news that Juncos Racing will enter the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 in May and later in the afternoon there was news from Detroit.

The organisers of the Detroit Grand Prix in Belle Isle have announced that the event has a new presenting partner with Lear Corporation coming on board for the race.

The event which takes place from June 2-4 will now be known as the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. The Lear Corporation who are based in Detroit are a world leader in automotive seating and electrical systems employing approximately 150,000 people in 37 countries.

Speaking following the announcement, President and CEO of Lear Corporation, Matt Simoncini commented by saying:

Lear is proud to partner with Chevrolet to bring the Grand Prix to the Motor City. Belle Isle Park is a perfect setting for an event like the Grand Prix. “We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of race fans to Detroit and showcasing our city to a national television audience of millions. Detroit is America’s comeback city and a great place to live, work and innovate.
