Tatiana Calderon, who tested the No.14 ROKiT Chevrolet for AJ Foyt Racing at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course in the NTT IndyCar Series earlier this week, says competing in the NTT IndyCar Series was never really on her radar until she got in the car on Tuesday.

Speaking to Paddock Eye on Thursday, Calderon said that the test was really an opportunity presented to her by ROKiT to see how she would get on in the car and she told us that she really enjoyed driving the car and was happy with the test went and she will see what the future holds.

The Colombian who is the test and development driver with the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Team said that there are some similarities between driving an F1 and IndyCar but for one thing she said she was amazed by the power of the brakes in the IndyCar.

When asked to describe the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course, Calderon said that she had never really thought about what track that it compares to in Europe but agreed with The Paddock Eye when we suggested that the circuit is similar to the Hungaroring to which she said it was because in Mid-Ohio just like in Hungary there is very little opportunity to take a break because there are so many different direction changes.

Tatiana will now switch her attention back to the FIA World Endurance Championship in Monza next weekend and she explained that there is a lot that she can take away from the IndyCar test and apply that to her racing in the LMP1 car.

Calderon was also really impressed with the setup at AJ Foyt Racing and was delighted to have been able to spend the Honda Indy 200 presented by Ridgeline with AJ Foyt Racing as she was able to speak to the drivers and get up to speed with the car and the team ahead of the test.

Tatiana has driven a lot of different cars this year going from driving a Super Formula Car in Suzuka, Japan to Spa driving an LMP2 car and when we asked her about what it is like driving so many different racing cars she explained how her mind just switches.

Calderon expressed her gratitude to AJ Foyt Racing, ROKiT, and JR Hildebrand who served as her driver coach for the test as she said he helped her to get up to speed with the car.

Speaking about the Aeroscreen, Calderon said at first she didn’t notice it and as a result, nearly forgot to put her visor down. The Colombian said that the Aeroscreen is just like the Halo and similar in terms of getting in and out of the car.

In IndyCar is in her future, Tatiana Calderon would be a great asset to any team in the field.
