The 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season kicked off at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg on Sunday and as it did it was announced that a book called ‘Lionheart -Remembering Dan Wheldon’ will be released in May.

The book, written and produced by Andy Hallbery and Jeff Olsen chronicles Wheldon’s life through his friends, family, team mates, crew members and competitors.

The two time Indianapolis 500 winner was killed in an accident at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during an IndyCar event there in 2011. Speaking about the book, Dan’s widow Susie commented by saying:

The response has been truly incredible, It shows just how many people’s lives Dan touched and is a wonderful legacy for our two boys, Sebastian and Oliver. I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everybody involved for their dedication to creating this book, and to everyone who contributed, too.

The 216 page book is priced at $74.99 with a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the book going to the Alzheimer’s Association and DW Foundation.
