Peugeot’s Sebastien Loeb took victory on stage eight of the 2017 Dakar Rally and doing so has taken the overall lead of the event from team mate Stephane Peterhansel who ended the stage in second place.

Loeb goes into Wednesday’s stage nine leading the rally by 00:01:38 over team mate Stephane Peterhansel.

Loeb ended stage eight leading a Peugeot 1,2,3 with Stephane Peterhansel in second and Cyril Despres in third place. Loeb now leads the rally by 00:03:35 while Despres is 00:05:13 behind Loeb.

Mikko Hirvonen was fourth for Mini while Giniel De Villiers was fifth for Toyota ending the day in fifth place.
