The Manor F1 Team look set to be powered by Mercedes Benz power units in 2016 with the news on Monday that Lotus and Renault have signed a letter of intent that will see Renault purchase a 65% shareholding in the Enstone outfit with the outfit being rebranded as the Renault F1 Team.

The news means that Mercedes Benz who currently supply the Lotus F1 Team with power units will be in a position to provide another team with units with Manor talks progressing.

It was reported over the weekend that a Manor/Mercedes partnership would see current DTM Championship leader and Mercedes test and reserve driver Pascal Wehrlein take one of the seats with the Manor F1 Team.

Head of Mercedes Benz Motorsport Toto Wolff confirmed over the weekend that they would love to provide Manor with power units as he believes that it give the team who returned to Formula One at the start of this season after entering administration last season a real chance to move up the grid.
