M Sport Ford World Rally Team Managing Director Malcolm Wilson OBE says that his team are in no rush to announce their driver line up for the 2021 FIA World Rally Championship season which gets underway in Monte Carlo from January 21-24 2021.
Esapekka Lappi and Teemu Suninen are out of contract at the conclusion of the 2020 season uin Monza next weekend while Gus Greensmith is close to signing a new contract with the team.
Speaking to the official FIA World Rally Championship website ahead of the ACI Rally Monza, Wilson said:
We’re in no rush to get the drivers decided, we’ve got a lot going on right now. While much of the attention is focused on the change of regulations coming in 2022, next year’s an important one for us.
“We’ve got some upgrades coming with the car and, obviously, the engine specification from next year will be the one we run for the new homologation [in 2022].
Wilson said that his main focus is on getting M-Sport through the current crisis and has yet to discuss contracts with his drivers.
