The Mahindra Racing Formula E team is ready to go as they prepare for the Rome E Prix which takes place this weekend in Italy. The circuit has undergone a face lift from previous seasons with a new layout and speaking ahead of the event, Alexander Sims said:
“The old Rome track was pretty cool, but this looks even more impressive; particularly the uphill sweeping section which is really high speed. In qualifying mode that should be pretty spectacular from the driver’s point of view. That, mixed with a lot of technical sections should provide decent racing and overtaking opportunities. It looks like it will be pretty tough on energy, so we’ll have to do a decent amount of coasting and re-gen which is always good for close racing. It’s really difficult to know what to expect, but if we can get some decent points that’s really what I’m after for every race this season.”
Alex Lynn commented saying:
“I’m super motivated ahead of the Rome. It will be really interesting this year as it’s pretty much a new track. I’ve been spending some time in the simulator at the factory with my engineers and, from the work that we’ve done, I think it’s going to be a circuit that I enjoy. We’re heading to a very technical track that has some really tight and twisty parts with a lot of ninety-degree corners and also a very fast section. I’m sure it will provide the usual brilliant action that Formula E is known for. I firmly believe we’ve got a competitive car so we will head to Rome focusing on ensuring that we produce the best weekend that we can.”
Mahindra Racing team owner Dilbagh Gill commented saying:
We head to Rome very single-minded in our focus and determination to deliver the results that we believe we are capable of. We have a very talented team who have done a huge amount of preparation for this season and we saw positives in terms of qualifying and race pace in Diriyah. A double header means double the opportunities and we’re enthused to get to Italy and get the momentum going on our campaign.
