Former Racing Point F1 team owner Vijay Mallya says he is delighted with the news that his former team have achieved the dream of becoming a works outfit.
It was announced this week that the Silverstone based outfit will be branded as Aston Martin Racing in 2021 after their owner, Canadian businessman reached a deal to purchase a 16.7% stake in the British marque.
Speaking to Autosport, Mallya who owned the team from 2008 through to 2018 said he spoke to his friend Stroll to congratulate him on the Aston Martin deal.
Mallya believes the deal is great for both parties as it means that they can go only one way and that is north.
Mallya also believes that 2020 Racing Point car will see the team take a big step forward.
