Williams Martini Racing hit the ground running on the opening day of the second winter test at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya on Tuesday as Felipe Massa ended the day as the fastest driver.
The Brazilian who missed the final day of testing last week ended the day with a fastest time of 01:19.762s ending the day just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel rounding out top three.
Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Lewis Hamilton completed 49 laps ending the day with the fourth fastest time of the with a 01:20.456s.
Hamilton’s team mate Valtteri Bottas was in the car this afternoon and ended the day with the fifth fastest time completing 86 laps with a fastest time of 01:20.924s ending the day just ahead of Sahara Force India’s Esteban Ocon.
Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg ended the day in seventh place with a fastest time of 01:21.589s completing 58 laps.
Kevin Magnussen completed 81 laps on his way to eighth fastest for the Haas F1 Team, the Dane ended the day just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat. McLaren Honda’s Stoffel Vandoorne ended the day by rounding out the top ten following an electrical issue with his Honda power unit.
Pascal Wehrlein on his his first day in the new car following his injury at the Race of Champions ended the day in 11th place completing 47 laps ending the day just ahead of his team mate Marcus Ericsson.
The Renault Sport F1 Team’s Jolyon Palmer rounded out the order in 13th place having completed just 15 laps.
Testing continues on Wednesday.
