Williams Martini Racing’s Felipe Massa set the fastest time on the opening morning of the second pre-season test at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya. The Grove based outfit who missed the final day of testing last week due to damage to their car completed 64 laps with a fastest time of 01:19.726s.
The Brazilian ended the session just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo who completed 49 laps in the RB13 with a fastest time of 01:19.900s.
Lewis Hamilton who was back in action for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team following last Thursday morning’s electrical issue with the W08 was third fastest for the Silver Arrows setting a time of 01:20.456s.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was fourth fastest with a time of 01:21.127s ending the session just ahead of Sahara Force India’s Esteban Ocon who completed 59 laps in the VJM10 set a fastest time of 01:21.347s ending the session just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen.
Daniil Kvyat was seventh for Toro Rosso ending the session just ahead of McLaren Honda’s Stoffel Vandoorne.
On his first morning driving the new C36, Pascal Wehrlein completed 47 laps with a fastest time of 01:23.336s with Renault Sport F1 Team’s Jolyon Palmer rounding out the order in 10th place.
Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas and Nico Hulkenberg will be in action for Williams, Mercedes and Renault respectively following the lunch break.
