Felipe Massa was happy with his result in the Australian Grand Prix finishing with fifth place on Sunday for the Williams Martini Racing team. Definitely a good start to the season he said.
It was a great move from the veteran Brazilian to overtake both Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers and go ahead after a red flag stopped the race following a collision between McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso and Haas F1 Team’s Esteban Gutierrez. That stop was the key of a new strategy to be held with only one-stop for Williams and for other teams as well.
Massa was very happy to see his teammate Valtteri Bottas finished eighth after a tough weekend starting from P16 due to a penalty to change the gearbox. The Finn was happy scoring some points for the team alongside with his teammate, he committed:
It was a good race. To finish fifth, scoring some good points, is definitely a good start to the season. The red flag in the middle helped us to keep our strategy to one-stop and, thanks to that, we managed to overtake both Toro Rossos who had decided to go for different tyres. That’s why I am happy with the result – and for Valtteri as well, he started P16 and finished P8, so it was a great drive for him.
