Felipe Massa reportedly signed a contract to return to Williams for 2017 to replace Valtteri Bottas.
The Brazilian will return to Grove to partner rookie Lance Stroll next season should Mercedes sign Valtteri Bottas to replace reigning world champion Nico Rosberg.
Massa’s agreement reportedly gives Williams the option to sign the Brazilian for 2017.
Massa retired from Formula One last month with Williams deciding to renew Valtteri Bottas’ contract alongside Lance Stroll next season.
Williams are expected to confirm Paddy Lowe as Pat Symonds’ replacement after Symonds confirmed earlier this week that he will leave the team at the end of the year.
