Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has confirmed that Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz has become:
Somewhat disillusioned with Formula One at the moment. He’s been very consistent in that statement. It’s my job to try and find a solution. We have a big commitment to Formula One, a big workforce, a very talented team and I’m doing my best to try and ensure that we find a competitive engine to power the team next year.
The Milton Keynes based outfit are currently in fourth place in the championship on 139 points. The team are signed up to race in Formula One until 2020 and Horner has confirmed that there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to ensure that the team fulfill their contract.
The team had hoped to be powered by Mercedes however this is no longer a possibility as the Silver Arrows were unwilling to provide power units to one of their main rivals.
Horner revealed in Singapore last weekend that if they were not in Formula One next season they would not abandon their base in Milton Keynes but would do something else there instead.
Speaking at the FIA Team Principal’s press conference on Friday, Horner revealed that discussions with Renault are progressing well and that a solution should be reached in the coming days.
