FIA Rally Director Yves Matton says that the the FIA and World Rally Championship promoters are confident that despite the global COVID 19 pandemic that next month’s 2021 FIA World Rally Championship season opening Rally Monte Carlo will go ahead as planned.
The 2021 WRC season is due to get underway from January 21-24 with Thursday’s shakedown test cancelled due to strict COVID-19 protocols in place in France.
The FIA have planned a schedule of 12 WRC events in 2021 with Rally Sweden which was due to take place in February but has been cancelled due to COVID 19.
Rally Monte Carlo officials confirmed earlier this week that should the event go ahead spectators will not be permitted.
