McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown has denied reports that Fernando Alonso will out another Grand Prix to participate in the Verizon IndyCar Series season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma next month.

Speaking to Racer, Brown said that in order for the double world champion do this he would have to obtain permission from the team and this is something that Alonso has not requested.

The double world champion is out of contract with McLaren in Formula One at the end of the season and it has been reported that he could make a move to the Verizon IndyCar Series full-time in 2018.

The final race of the Verizon IndyCar Series, the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma takes place on September 17 which conflicts with the Singapore Grand Prix.
