The McLaren NTT IndyCar Series programme have entered into a technical partnership with the Carlin Racing team ahead of their Indianapolis 500 return in May. The Woking based outfit entered Fernando Alonso in the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in 2017 with help from Andretti Autosport.
The IndyStar in Indianapolis report that that the two British teams who are both powered by Chevrolet will share data with some Carlin personnel working alongside their McLaren counterparts in the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
Team owner Trevor Carlin has confirmed the partnership but would not provide details on the link up.
The IndyStar say that two time Indy 500 runner up Scott Goodyear will serve as Fernando Alonso’s spotter for the 500. Paddock Eye understands that Fernando Alonso won’t have a McLaren team mate for the Indianapolis 500 but will be have the added from Carlin Racing’s Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton over the course of the month of May.
Speaking at the Autosport International Show last month, McLaren CEO Zak Brown said that personnel from their Formula One team are assisting with their NTT IndyCar Series programme for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
