McLaren CEO Zak Brown says that the company are looking into bringing a team mate on board for Fernando Alonso at the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May with an existing team in order to boost data sharing.
Speaking at the Autosport International Show on the opening public day of the event, Brown said that the team will take delivery of their two IndyCar’s this week.
Brown has also confirmed that Fernando Alonso’s race engineer from the 2017 Indianapolis 500, Ray Gosselin has joined the McLaren IndyCar programme and will once again serve as his crew chief for the 500 this year.
Brown has also confirmed that they are using some McLaren people who approached him to take part in the IndyCar progromme. Brown said that he is confident that it is going to be difficult for the team but he confident that they will be able to give Fernando Alonso the car he needs to compete for the Indianapolis 500 win.
Speaking to Paddock Eye on Saturday morning, Brown said that the Indy 500 programme is going to be good.
