McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown says Arrow McLaren SP are open to the possibility of Fernando Alonso competing for the team at the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2021.

Brown said that he would be happy for Alonso to return if Renault allow him to do it.

The American said he does not know the details of the double F1 champion’s contract with Renault but said that he could do the 500, Arrow McLaren SP could have another driver qualify the car.

The Indianapolis 500 works in that the car qualifies for the race, not the driver.

In 2021 the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix do not clash and are a week part so should Alonso want to and is permitted to he could compete in the 500.

For now the Spaniard is focused on this year’s Indianapolis 500.
